Owning a house is a lot of work, but it can be even more work if you let the maintenance slip away from you. I’ve found it’s a lot easier to do a little bit of work each weekend to keep my house in good repair, instead of putting things off and ending up buried in work (and expense) later on. Here are my must-do’s for the summer months to keep my house in good condition, inside and out.
August becomes such a busy month as summer wraps up and we prepare for fall. Sometimes we spend so much time looking ahead, that we don’t take the time to enjoy the present. This month’s inspo is all about slowing down and taking time to enjoy the everyday!
For my second month of Rent the Runway, I wanted to refresh my summer wardrobe with pretty dresses and skirts for work. I felt more prepared this order, because I was able to shop all month and “like” items that I was interested in renting instead of being in a panic trying to sort through everything to get my order.
I again found it frustrating that there isn’t a lot of availability of a lot of the items. Of my likes, about half were available in my size. I’m always looking for 1-2 skirts and 2-3 dresses in a variety of formal and fun looks, so it’s actually pretty difficult when the ones you really wanted aren’t available and you have to try to find backups. As I said in my first month review, I’m also really only interested in renting designer items that are worth the money– if I want to wear a $40 free people dress, I’ll just go buy it!
It’s summer yall! Time to grab a cold drink and get outside (you can read my blog from your patio, just saying!). I’ve pulled together some of my favorite summer styles and ideas and have a free summer loving printable for you from the lovely Renee Sherwood Design. Check it out at the end of this post!
It’s finally time to open the windows and enjoy the sunshine in Minneapolis. After what felt like the longest winter EVER, we went from blizzards to 85 degrees in less than a month!
This is a great time to liven up your decor. I love adding lots of vases for the fresh flowers from my yard. I found an awesome fake leaf in the dollar section at Target to use as a placeholder until I can replace with real stems. This time of year, the more color the better.
