How To Meal Prep with Hello Fresh

A few weeks ago, I shared my review of hello fresh meal service. The service fit pretty well with my lifestyle and (lack of) cooking abilities, and I have continued the subscription. Right now, I have been doing every-other week deliveries of 2 meals. Because the servings are so large, I end up with 4 dinners from each meal, so it usually lasts me about 2 weeks of work night meals.

If I don’t love what the options are for a week, I just skip that week and wait until the next. It’s really nice to be able to skip whenever you want without being charged! I have also found that the ingredients last until the next week in the fridge, so if I don’t use a meal one week, its fine the next!

I’ve also begun “prepping” the meals on Sunday nights, so that they are ready to go for dinners during the week. Between work and marathon training, I like to make dinners as quick as possible to prepare since I don’t have an hour to cook every night. I’ve been preparing the hello fresh meals ahead of time, and found a few tips and tricks to keep them fresh for the week ahead!

Hello Fresh Meal Service Review

I’ve been curious about trying Hello Fresh for a while now. I’ve told y’all before that I am a terrible cook, and usually end up eating the same bland things for lunches and dinner. I also like the idea of having the right amount of ingredients for a meal, without having a ton of waste to throw away. Right now, I find it hard to use up perishable ingredients when I’m just cooking for myself.

Peanut Butter Oat Protein Balls

As you probably know, I’m big on having healthy snacks around at all times. Having snacks on hand throughout the day keeps me full in between meals, and it keeps me from being starving by the time I do get to eat a meal, which helps me be more mindful of what I make and eat.

One of my favorite go-to snacks are protein balls. They are a good homemade alternative to granola bars and can save you money too! I’ve experimented with a few different combinations, since I usually just use what is in my pantry, but this one has been my favorite combination so far!

This meal prep recipe was inspired by a superbowl party snack that my friend Amanda, over at Thirty-Two Degrees made. She brought some amazing greek pinwheels for one of our appetizers and they were literally SO good! Easy Pantry Ingredient Energy Balls

With how active I am, I end up really hungry throughout the day and try to honor my hunger with snacks. I try to keep healthy snacks on hand, so I don’t reach for junk food. 

The last few weeks, I’ve felt like I haven’t been eating as good as I can, and I was looking at some energy ball recipes on Pinterest. When I ran to the grocery store, I totally forgot I wanted to make them and didn’t buy any special ingredients. So, I turned to my pantry to see what I could do with what I already had.
