After completing my subway tile backsplash, the next step of my kitchen remodel was to paint the walls. I previously shared that I wanted to keep the minty retro green color but to lighten and brighten it a little bit to give my kitchen a brighter look.
One of my favorite parts of my kitchen remodel is my subway tile back splash. It is so bright and timeless, which was the goal of my kitchen remodel. The other benefit to subway tile is that it is really cheap– I got my tile on sale for $0.17 a tile! The entire backsplash cost less than $60.
The backsplash is also relatively easy to do yourself. You will need a tile saw, and maybe someone with experience using one, but the rest even a novice can do themselves!
After months of waiting, my quartz countertops are finally installed! I figured after not hearing from the company for weeks they would call and want to install them right away, and that was exactly what happened..
A few weeks ago, I shared that I was looking for new hardware for my kitchen cupboards. Because we are adding 4 new drawers to fill the hole where the dishwasher was, I either had to find matching hardware or replace all of the hardware so it would match.
I thought it would be nice to refresh all of the hardware with a more modern look, and ended up purchasing simple bar pulls. I realized once they arrived that this design would not work in my kitchen because of where the existing holes were placed. The overhang of the pull stuck out over the edge of the doors. Total design fail! I wasn’t too heartbroken, because I felt like they didn’t quite fit the kitchen anyways.
I’ve previously shared that I wanted to update my kitchen wall color as a part of my remodel. I like the retro green color that I currently have, but with the refresh of the counters and floors, I wanted to take the time to make the walls look refreshed and modern as well.
While waiting on my new countertop installation, I have started pulling together some of the smaller decor items. As I’ve mentioned before, I really want to keep a retro vibe for the kitchen and keep it original to the design of the home. I am keeping the birch cupboards as is, and just refinishing the wood since the finish is starting to wear off.
