Spring DIYs You’ll Actually Love

It’s starting to look like we’ll still be hanging out at home for most of the spring, so I wanted to gather some fun craft ideas that you might actually really like. I really try to avoid Pinterest fails, since I’ve spent a lot of time and money in the past trying to DIY something that I should’ve just bought.

These DIYs are great for yourself or to make as a gift for someone special. Now is a great time to show appreciation for the people in your life. Most of these would cost you $20 or less to make as well!

My Simple Bright Spring Décor

January is always a hard transition for your home décor. Its time to put away all of the holiday festivity, but it also really doesn’t feel like spring. I like to use this transition time to reduce clutter and brighten everything up a little bit.

It feels so good just to empty out your rooms and put away all of that holiday décor. I sort of like starting with a really blank slate in each room, and then deciding where to go from there. Since I’m trying to be smart about spending this year, I really tried to work with pieces that I already had, and just styled them in new combinations.

My Bright and Cheerful Holiday Décor

I recently shared my holiday mantle decorations, but finally got around to decorating the rest of my home for Christmas! Getting a tree is one of my favorite parts of the season, even though its extra work and sometimes a huge mess! The first year that I got a live tree, I didn’t know to make a fresh cut at the bottom of it, and it completely dried out before Christmas. Now I’ve learned my lesson to make a fresh cut and to make sure it always has a lot of water (hydration is key for you and your Christmas tree!). I also finally got around to decorating my kitchen! I like adding a little bit of holiday cheer to each room in the house to make it feel special– especially now that we’re spending so much time at home!

Easy Frame Hack for a Stylish Bedroom

Once of my most recent DIY projects was updating the picture frames above my bed. Before, I had one frame that I had painted white. It served its purpose, but it was time for an upgrade.

One way to make your home look stylish and more well designed is large scale art. Statement pieces feel more purposeful and can become the focal point for a room. For my bedroom, I chose 2 large scale skinny gold frames with large mattes to hold a 5″x7″ photo. I loved the contrast of the skinny frame with the thick matte. You can find a similar frame here!

Stress Free Office Mini Makeover

My company recently announced that we would be working from home for another 9 months. After 6 months of making due in my at home office, I decided that it was time for a little bit of a room makeover. I wanted to adjust the room to more of a permanent office space that worked for my needs.

Before quarantine, I used my office room as more of an extended closet, guest bedroom, but also had a desk space. I rarely worked from home, so I didn’t use the desk space very often. Now that I use the space daily, it was time to adjust. I didn’t end up doing a major makeover, but a few tweaks made the space so much better for stress-free work!

Some easy updates you can do to make major change to your space include:
