It’s been an emotionally draining couple of weeks (or you know, year), so this week I decided I was going to take a day off work for a little self care. For me, this meant waking up for a sunrise run, shopping the new fall home decor at Target, and decorating my house for fall!
It felt nice to refresh the space and to buy some fun new things. Each year, I try a little different look to change things up. I started decorating with what I already had to get a better idea of what things would be nice to buy to complete the look. This year, many of our fall traditions may have to look different. Instead of football games and halloween parties, we’ll have to find different ways to celebrate the season. Now is the time to start planning ways to make fall feel special for you and your loved ones.
Instead of focusing on what we are missing this year, I encourage you to focus on what you can safely do and still enjoy. Who knows, maybe you will start a new family tradition!
This October is a very exciting month for me! I started the month by running the Twin Cities marathon, and then I will spend the second half of the month on an overseas trip for work. I’m a little bummed about missing my favorite weather of the year (but also not sad I won’t be stuck cleaning up the leaves in my yard– sorry mom and dad!).
Since I’ll be missing my favorite time of year, I decided to round up everything fall and cozy that I’m loving right now to share with y’all.
If you own your home, now is the time to complete your fall maintenance tasks to ensure your house is ready for the winter. It’s important to stay on top of things so that they don’t end up costly problems down the road! Did you know if you don’t turn the water off to your outdoor hoses AND drain them out, they can freeze and explode during the winter? Take it from me, that’s not a fun problem to have!
Preparing your yard for winter also helps save headaches in the spring– if you keep your gardens and lawn free of leaves, you won’t end up having to clean up soggy leaves when the snow melts.
Here are the steps that I follow every fall to make sure my home is ready for the changing seasons.
