Earlier this week, I wrote about how I love refreshing my space for the new year. It’s a little sad to take all of the holiday decorations down, but I also love when my house feels so clean and open again! Although I don’t go into full spring decor, I do love bringing in lighter colors and a little bit of greenery to brighten everything up.
In order to balance out the more spring-forward pieces, I try to incorporate a lot white as a neutral. I also still love the look of terra-cotta and might add a few more pieces once my January spending freeze is over!

One of my favorite days of the year is when I decorate my christmas mantle. I try to do a little different look each year, and it’s always fun to pull it all together. This year, I felt like we didn’t have a fall season, so I tried to hold out as long as possible, but still ended up decorating in mid-november.
This year, I went for a more colorful and whimsical theme, instead of the more traditional look that I normally have.
Sometimes your house needs a little something new. But we don’t all have the time and money to do a room makeover whenever we feel like it! So how do you refresh a space without a huge overhaul? Here are 6 quick and inexpensive ways to update your home:
One of the easiest ways to decorate a room is to base it all in white. It’s the simplest color choice you will ever make! White is timeless and really easy to style with other neutrals or pops of color. The color also looks beautiful with natural wood tones, especially wood flooring. I don’t have any all white rooms in my house, but some of these inspiration images have me rethinking my color palette!
Happy fall, y’all! This is my favorite time of year, and I’ve been so excited for the chance to change out my summer decor to cozy fall pieces! Fall is full of so many fun traditions and family time. I think that’s why so many people feel so nostalgic about the season.
For me, fall means running the Twin Cities Marathon, my birthday, football games with friends, and Thanksgiving with the family. If you’ve been following this blog for any amount of time, you know those are all of my favorite things!
In order to celebrate the best time of year, I’ve created some cute printables for you guys. They are all free to download, so feel free to use as you would like. I love the idea of pinning them in a family space, or putting them in a fancy frame.
By the end of August, I am always so excited to start putting out my fall decor. I pretend to have an excuse to decorate so early so that I can take photos for my blog, but I would probably do it at the same time regardless of the blog. It’s just fun to refresh things and know that change is coming!
I’m not totally happy with the decor and I think that I need to add a few pieces. I try to be really intentional when shopping for decor these days, so that I don’t end up with a ton of stuff that I never use. Now that I have the spaces set, it’s easier to plan just where I need to add a few things. Right now I’m thinking that I need a little something more around the fireplace and some more fall colored textiles for the dining table and in the living room. I’ll keep y’all updated with what I find!
