My Spring Front Step Makeover

It finally hit 50 degrees in Minnesota, which means it was time to take down the left over Christmas decorations on my front step. It felt so good saying goodbye to the remnants of winter! I realized that I was very overdue for some new front step decor, and was excited to shop for it. On my list were new pots, faux plants to fill them (for now, since its still too cold for live plants!), and a new doormat.

Like always, my shopping involved heading to Target!

I found really cute terra cotta planters in the dollar section that were only $5! They had them in black, and I regret not picking up more. I paired them with these $5 faux eucalyptus plants. They’re not supposed to go outside, but for $5, I’m willing to risk it! They fit the pots so well. I should probably note that I am a designer at Target HQ and actually designed the plants (but the opinions on this blog are my own and they don’t pay me or make me say this ha!).

Since I got a deal on the planters, I splurged a little on the new doormat. I love the layered coir doormat + woven rug look, so I picked up this cute Studio McGee indoor / outdoor woven rug. I was planning on going for a more classic “WELCOME” doormat, but the pineapple one was just way too fun and felt a little more like my style.

The refresh cost me a little over $50, which was more than I had intended to spend, but the rug and doormat will last a long time (especially since they’re in the covered part of my front step). I also already had the LED black lanterns to complete the look.

One of my summer projects this year is actually to refinish my front door. If you have any advice on the project, comment below!
